Meet the Abbene's

Jean and Martin Abbene

Jean and Martin Abbene’s lot in Stoney Point appeared to be an ideal location with a view of the lake from the front and the golf course in the rear. What was not readily apparent during the sales process was the limited amount of footprint on which they could actually build.

Their first house plan design could not be built as the Greenwood County Zoning Board denied them a small setback variance. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

With ideas from Lee and the architect’s knowledge of what they desired, an even better home layout was created. One that showcases their unique lot and provides all of the room elements and design features they wanted.

Their full-brick home, placed high on their sloping front yard, prominently displays the quality level and unique character of a welcoming and maintenance-free lake home.

“We owned our property long before we chose our builder. We shopped around for builders and chose Jim Beard Homes because they best matched our goal of building a home that we could be proud of with quality materials and workmanship all through the house.

The bonus was getting Lee’s eye for detail. He provided advice at each and every step of the selection process to make the house look better within our budget and often less.”

Using the Right Ingredients in the Correct Amounts

You can definitely tell from the first taste or first look whether a recipe has turned out well, will be bragged about and shared with others. It usually results from using the right ingredients in the correct amounts. It’s the same when you build a home.

Using The Right Methods of Preparing, Cooking and Garnishing

An Executive Chef oversees every aspect of the kitchen but cannot do everything alone. A restaurant must have qualified sous chefs and line chefs in all areas of menu preparation (sauce, bread/pastry/desserts, vegetables/soups, etc.) in order to put together a full, fine-dining experience. And, so it is with building a home.

Reality Check: Making Sure your Dream Home Recipe is not a Recurring Nightmare

The bottom line is: “The warm feeling of a low price is quickly replaced by the cold reality of poor workmanship.” It’s been repeated many times throughout history. A business simply cannot give a client an unusually low price without cutting the quality of workmanship, materials or both.
