Potential Construction Material Savings Opportunities

JUGGLING YOUR FINANCES TO AFFORD A HOUSING START IN 2009 WILL HELP YOU REALIZE SOME REAL COST-SAVING BENEFITS.

In a January 31st article in the Atlanta Journal Constitution, a large developer in the Atlanta area announced his plan to "use the construction slowdown to renegotiate contracts and potentially reap millions of dollars in savings. ‘We’re going to sit down with our subcontractors and sharpen up our pencils and see where the market is today.’" That strategy applies to both large developers and custom home building firms like Jim Beard Homes.

We have long-term relationships with our sub-contractors and routinely discuss the realities of the home building market with them. They are all aware of the slowdown and know that it will be necessary to "sharpen up their pencils" during the bidding process.

Whenever you are able to begin building, we will be working for you in multiple avenues to build you the best home for your dollars.
- during plan development, applying the cost saving techniques to secure square footage savings, i.e., building to nominal board lengths to reduce waste;
- during the bid process, working with our subcontractors to get the best price possible without sacrificing quality;
- during construction, working with you and our subcontractors to select those materials that provide the look you want to achieve within your budget.
