Welcome!
“He who has not first laid his foundations may be able with great ability to lay them afterwards,
but they will be laid with trouble to the architect and danger to the building.”
Niccolo Machiavelli, The Prince,
Italian dramatist, historian, & philosopher (1469 - 1527)
There may be many other more thought-provoking interpretations of the meaning of these words.
But, taken literally and applied to home building, these words from the 15th century ring
true still today.
I don’t consider myself a great philosopher, but I do have a firm philosophy about the homes
I build – “I Build It Like Its My Own.” In this edition, our second installment of “From The Ground Up,”
I will explain the importance of Foundations and Footings. Though the topic may seem as dull as dirt,
it’s crucial to building a home that will be problem-free long term. Much too often foundations are given
less importance than the finishing details, causing many problems down the road. With a firm foundation
in place, you will get your dream home started on the right foot.
Happy reading!
